Summoned: A Letter That Arrived Too Late
The envelope slid from my lifeless hand and floated to the floor.
I had wondered what my sister would think when she returned from work. She knew the letter had arrived and that it was meant for me. But she didn’t know what it said…yet.
I would never tell her.
The front door squeaked open as Lisa entered the kitchen, humming a joyful tune. She gasped as the reality of what had happened hours before began to register. Then she saw it: the letter.
It said… “You’ve been summoned to Heaven, and you will come right this instant.”
